Making healthy food choices when grocery shopping.

5th and 6th class were given advice on healthy food choices when grocery shopping by a nutritionist . They were introduced to the food pyramid where they were given advice on how much carbohydrates/protein/fruit/veg and dairy products to consume each day.

Labels

When it comes to finding out about nutrition on a food label, the key place to look is the ingredients list. The first ingredient listed is the one that is there in the largest quantity. The next ingredient is there in the next largest amount etc If oil, butter, cream or sugar come first then that food is  high in calories.
